Since May 2022, Chakameh Azimpour Tabrizi, Sr. Principal Scientist, Amgen has participated in BioPhorum Development Group.
She has been an active contributor in the Viral Clearance Workstream, and a member of microbial control workstream, most recently Chakameh has focused on the ICH Q5A (R2) update and is collaborating with BioPhorum on a white paper focusing on evaluating and recommending suitable alternatives to Triton X-100 for viral inactivation.
While Amgen doesn’t always need to implement actions proposed from BioPhorum papers and best practices, “We definitely appreciate the knowledge BioPhorum provides to its members…It’s great to see the way we are focusing on the future and the impact of implementing new technology.”
We asked Chakameh what she saw as the main benefits of her participation in BioPhorum, and what it means for Amgen.
“It is a unique opportunity to find common ground. We can work together to streamline our path forward. Amgen has a wealth of more than 40 years of experience in Viral Clearance, and in BioPhorum we can work appropriately with other members to produce a shared direction regarding modular claims and our agency filings, with a common voice to answer agency questions.”
“A continuous partnership with other industry members is probably our biggest benefit. Publications produced by the members are also useful and the tool AskBioPhorum is extremely valuable.”
Looking to the future, we asked Chakameh what value she sees from being part of the collaboration.
“Continuous and active participation with other industry members is probably our biggest benefit. Publications produced by members are useful and the online tool AskBioPhorum is extremely valuable. Viral clearance is a niche subject and it’s great to have the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers in real time from peers regarding topics that may be appropriately shared with others. We really enjoy learning from each other, and to do so effectively it requires active participation from all involved. No member should be in the passenger seat. Sharing and bringing different perspectives to the table is the beauty of BioPhorum.”
