Alternative and Rapid Micro Methods – Biofluorescent Particle Counters
The mission of this team is to promote the development of alternative methods for detecting microorganisms including working within a wider collaboration effort, the Modern Microbial Methods working group.
The transition from traditional growth-based microbial detection methods to continuous bio-fluorescent counting methods represents a paradigm shift as it moves to results which are non-equivalent in terms of microbial counts
How can we navigate these challenges and achieve regulatory acceptance of these technologies?
Establishing clearly what these challenges are and how they might be addressed will take the industry to a more rapid solution for particle detection and subsequent batch release
Four industry working groups are navigating these challenges together– the BioPhorum ARMM-BFPC team, the Kilmer Community Rapid Microbiology Methods group, the Online Water Bioburden Analyzer (OWBA) working group and the Process and Environmental Monitoring Methods (PEMM) working group. The unit of measure, validation, alert and action levels as well as the strategy of qualification of BFPC systems have all been taken under consideration.
